I think this quote means that if you choose the right you will get to a place that makes you happy and successful. But if you choose the wrong you will end up in the wrong place and hate it 

Example: When i was smaller my mom told me to be good and she will buy me stuff and she did. But if i behave bad she wont buy me anything.
